Gong Meditation

"The gong is a sacred threshold. It is the portal that links the finite and the infinite experience of the Self. As such, the gong is the most sublime instrument of the Yogi. Every ancient tradition holds the gong sacred as an instrument for deep transformation.

In the east, the gong is believed to hold the sounds and vibrations of the universe.

These vibrations quickly quiet the mind and resonate within the body to free energy and break through blocks.

The gong can clear emotional, energetic and physical blocks and allows one to tune into the universal frequency. It is a very powerful tool to promote healing, manifestation and a state of deep awareness.

The gong meditation begins with gentle yoga and breath work to tune in and open. Then we lie down comfortably, relax, and experience the gong which is played for about 40 minutes.

People have described this experience as being profound, extraordinary and even life altering.

Private Gong Therapy Sessions

I offer private Gong Therapy sessions. I have experienced states of deep relaxation while being near gongs that are being played or by playing them myself.

Just as our bodies are able to cleanse and heal when we fast, giving them a rest from digestion, our body, mind and spirit are best able to heal when the chattering in the mind falls into the background and we are in a state of deep, abiding peace and relaxation.

Sound therapy can be an integral part of your self-care regimen.

I provide Gong Sound Therapy in Pflugerville. $60 per 1 hour session for individuals or couples. For larger groups, additional charges apply at the rate of $15 per person.

Gong Therapy Testimonials

Wondering what a gong therapy session is all about? Perhaps I can shed some light and/or alleviate any trepidation you may be having by sharing my own experience with one that I had with Marg. I was a bit hesitant at first about putting myself in a vulnerable position with a one-on-one session. What if it was so loud that I wanted to get up and leave right from the beginning? What if I grew tired of it and began fidgeting? How would I react if it stirred up some deep-seated emotions that I hadn’t previously confronted? And would I really gain anything from spending an hour of my time in this manner?

Earplugs were offered, but I declined, keeping them handy just in case. However, I quickly discovered that when Marg began playing the gong, I drifted off to another place entirely. In fact, I remember that I felt like I was in a tropical rain forest under a canopy of trees with the sound of raindrops lightly hitting the leaves above me. I not only wasn’t thinking about putting earplugs in, but was relishing any increase in intensity as she played.

As Marg moved from gong to gong, I looked forward to seeing how my perception of the sound changed with the pitch. Each gong seemed to evoke a different primitive vibration within me.

I would highly recommend this form of meditation to anyone who is interested. In fact, I did recommend and schedule one for my son, who is 21. He declared the session one of the most relaxing, refreshing experiences he’s ever had. I personally felt like I had been transported to a higher vibrational plane for quite awhile after the session.

Before the session, I was simply curious as to what I might experience…would I feel something in my body, or would emotions come up, would my brain be filled with chatter? Marg creates a safe and supportive environment, so I had no worries prior to the session. The session was well organized with everything I needed to be physically comfortable…blankets, eye pillow, ear plugs, bolsters etc. I lay on the floor with one gong at my head, one at my feet and one on my right side, with Marg starting the gong-playing with the gong at my feet. She played each gong for several minutes. The session lasted a total of one hour.

My favorite part of the session was feeling the actual sound vibrations in
various parts of my body. After the session, I felt very relaxed and ‘tingly’ with a sensation that my body had expanded having more space in the joints particularly, like a complete letting go of tension and tight muscles.

I would encourage you to go without any expectations of an outcome and to just experience it for yourself. I would emphasize that you would be completely safe and in charge of how the session progressed. You could stop at any time if you felt uncomfortable, or could ask for something additional that would make the experience better for you.

This is a therapy worth continuing for me.
